Vestas 11th Hour Racing team has launched their campaign for the 2017-2018 Volvo Ocean Race. The team will be led by the duo Charlie Enright and Mark Towill. Not just taking on the challenge to perform well on the world stage, this team is promoting a sustainability message across the world.

Here is an update from the team:

“Team Vestas 11th Hour Racing is off to a great start. We’ve selected a solid core group of sailors and we’ve completed 2 Trans Atlantic passages on our new/old Volvo Ocean 65. We are doing some cross training in the Great Lakes, as a team, on the R/P 74 Wizard, formally owned by the Foundation.

Toward the end of July we will all travel together to the UK for some more pre-race sailing. The race rules mandate that all announced teams participate in the Rolex Fastnet Race as well as a prologue which consists of passages form Plymouth, UK to St. Malo, France to Lisbon, Portugal, and finally to Alicante, Spain, the VOR starting point this October.

We will be announcing the rest of our team in mid-July. We continue to be ever-grateful for the support that we’ve received from the Foundation over the years and we’re proud of the opportunities we’ve been able to create for others.”
