Over the decades the once rich marine climate of New York Harbor became toxic and nearly lifeless. At the turn of the 21stCentury, passage of environmental laws like the Clean Water Act improved the water quality.
Restoration efforts have now begun and one is the Billion Oyster Project. BeetleJuice, a Sailing Foundation Hunter 38 sailboat, is being used by the students at the New York Harbor School to take part in this effort.
