With the town of Port Royal and local South Carolina as the backdrop, 10 Warriors successfully completed a three day training camp for Coastal Cruising. These ASA 103 certifications provide the next step to warriors who have already completed basic training and a 101 basic keelboat certification. The coastal cruising certification includes learning about onboard boat systems (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, electronics) while also re-enforcing the basic sailing skills onboard a bigger boat. Three days of beautiful weather, but little wind provided great boat maneuvering practice under motor and hours of boat system work. Special thanks to the USMMA Sailing Foundation for providing the J95 for the training, and to the Perrin family for providing the use of their Frers 45 Spirit for training use during the course. We also had the privilege of having coach Peter Branning join us with his vast experience with ASA certification
