HOOD Sailmakers (www.HOOD-Sails.com), designers and manufacturers of high-quality, long lasting, durable sails, has announced that during the months of October and November proceeds from new sail orders and service work will be donated to the Warrior Sailing Program.
Through introductory basic training camps to world-class sailing programs, the Warrior Sailing Program facilitates getting veterans on the water as an opportunity to provide physical, mental and emotional therapy for a variety of injuries and illness. Sailing provides an outlet to cope with the long term effects of PTSD, brain injury, amputation, paralysis and nerve damage. It also provides the warrior sailors a forum to express their most natural abilities: teamwork and competitive drive.
HOOD Sailmakers Chief Operating Officer, Dave MacMillan said, “Be Professional, Have Fun and Give Back are values that HOOD is proud to share with The Warrior Sailing Program. Warrior Sailing’s dedication to give back to men and women who have sacrificed so much on our behalf is commendable. The commitment made by Warrior Sailing to engage service members in an unmatched maritime education provides tremendous value to our sport and industry. HOOD is honored to support Warrior Sailing and we invite you to join us.”
“We are excited about this partnership with HOOD Sailmakers to help us achieve our mission,” said Jen French, Co-Founder of the Warrior Sailing Program. “This is another great example of how the sailing community can work together to expand the sport of sailing to disabled veterans who have served us.”

About HOOD Sailmakers
For over 55 years HOOD sails have been the sails of choice for sailors seeking performance, durability and VALUE. From modest beginnings in the basement of his house in Marblehead in the early 1950’s, Ted Hood developed not only fast, durable sails, but invented the machinery to make the cloth that he used to make these sails. Today, HOOD Sailmakers continues Ted’s tradition of designing, engineering and building sails that offer the best VALUE around the world. For more, please visit: http://hood-sails.com
